Throughout the 1970s, Huntsville would see a decline in its rocket program, yet there are still rockets being made there today and are being used to launch satellites. Huntsville, Alabama also operates the Space and Rocket Center where one of the three authentic Saturn rockets are available for public viewing. There is a new mission being planned to the moon with a rocket called the SLS or Space Launch System. The core of this new rocket is being built in Huntsville Alabama and will be replacing the Saturn V rockets. NASA has continued to use testing on the Saturn V to duplicate its success. The legacy of the Saturn V will lay the groundwork for new rockets used in future space missions, possibly one day to Mars. Thanks to the success of the Saturn V and the Apollo Missions, America has high expectations for upcoming space travel.
