Starting this year, the magazine is completely printed and packaged in the state of Alabama. We wanted to truly be Alabama's premier historical magazine, and that meant finding a printer within the state. We are pleased to be working with Davis Direct in Montgomery.
Marketing Manager Caroline Gazzara-McKenzie launched our newest email platform in January. We have seen an increase in subscribers and successful promotions. Our Friends of Alabama Heritage program benefitted greatly by this new email system.
Our editorial assistants, Kate, Katie, and Camryn have been instrumental this year. We are so proud of their support and hard work. We also welcomed our first-ever Alabama Heritage mascot, Violet McKenzie, daughter of Caroline Gazzara-McKenzie and her husband, Ethan. Violet has stolen the hearts of our team and will become a history buff in no time.
We traveled around the state for the Alabama Historical Association's annual conference and pilgrimage, reconnecting with old friends and made some new ones. We cannot wait to see everyone in Huntsville for the next AHA conference!
In the fall, we celebrated 150 issues of the magazine. Since our founding in 1986, we have continued to serve our state with factual, historical information. We look forward to the next 150 issues.
Get excited for 2024, we have so much more to come and we can't wait to show you our big surprise.
