Robert J. Norrell is an historian, educator, and writer, formerly with The University of Alabama as an associate professor, 1986-98; currently serving at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, as Bernadotte Schmitt Chair of Excellence and professor of history in the Department of History, since1998.
