Annette Norris Bradford was born and raised in Auburn. She received her BA and MA in English from Auburn University and her PhD in rhetoric and communication from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York. She taught for seven years before starting work for IBM in 1983, where she worked in Kingston, New York; Vienna, Austria; and Raleigh, North Carolina as an information designer, programmer, and writer. She retired in 2014 and moved to Scottsboro, Alabama, as a full-time resident in April 2017. She is married to Scottsboro-native David Bradford. They have one son, Will. She and David took over editorship of the Jackson County Chronicles in March 2015 and have written on numerous Jackson County history topics. She is currently an Alabama Historical Association board member.
