Calvin Cockrell is a freelance journalist who, in addition to proofreading for Alabama Heritage, works as the media editor for The Christian Chronicle and copyeditor for Religion Unplugged.
He is also a part-time young adult minister for the North Tuscaloosa Church of Christ.
Before returning as a proofreader in 2021, Calvin previously interned with Alabama Heritage as an undergraduate student, which helped develop his appreciation for Alabama history and for the magazine and its team.
Calvin earned his bachelor’s degree in journalism and economics in 2017 and master’s degree in journalism in 2019 from The University of Alabama.
A lifelong Alabamian, Calvin grew up in a small town in east Alabama before making his home in Tuscaloosa with his wife, daughter and cat.
