Justice At Dachau Author to Speak at UA and UAB

Joshua Greene, Emmy-nominated film producer and author of Justice at Dachau: The Trials of An American Prosecutor (Broadway Books, 2003) will present lectures and audiovisual presentations at the University of Alabama and the University of Alabama at Birmingham next week.

Alabama Heritage readers were introduced to Greene's work in his recent article, "William Denson: An Alabama Gentleman in the Devil's Court," which appeared in the Winter 2004 issue. The article, based on Greene's book, tells the story of Birmingham native, William Denson, a U.S. Army lawyer who found himself incharge of the largest, yet least-known, trials of Nazi war criminals after World War II.

Greene will speak about Denson and the Dachau war crimes trials at the University of Alabama on Feb. 5 at 7 p.m. in Room 125 of ten Hoor Hall on Marr's Spring Road. This presentation is sponsored by the Bankhead Fund of the history department, department of religious studies, and UA's College of Arts and Sciences.

The history department of the University of Alabama at Birmingham is sponsoring a second presentation by Greene on Feb. 6 at 1:30 p.m. in Room 405 of Campbell Hall, 1300 University Boulevard.
